I've been a Full Stack Engineer for the past 8 years. I got into web development when I was interested in creating a start-up that would help people cut red-tape out of their lives. It was essentially a wiki, based on the MediaWiki platform, and enabled people to write about anything from creating a business to how to pay a parking ticket.
Since then, I've been involved in everything from recommendation engines (another startup) to single sign-on and today I work at National Geographic, building great apps and most recently leading the work for creating an activity stream service and corresponding front-end modules. We are primarily a Django shop, but we have some Java and Node intermixed as well.
