Lightning Talks
Lightnings are the essence of many open source community conferences, and DjangoCon is no exception. If you aspire to becoming a conference speaker a lightning is a very gentle way to dip your toe into the water.
Sign up with a topic. Selection will include a random element to retain elements of surprise and novelty. Lightning Talks will be at 3:20 pm in Ballroom I. Frank Wiles will be organizing the event.
Open Space
Open Space sessions have always been a popular feature at conferences like PyCon, but don't seem to have quite the same appeal to Djangonauts - maybe you are just more social by nature.
Suffice it to say that if you would like to run an activity in parallel with DjangoCon we will be happy to try and make space available to accommodate it. Do you need a meeting room? Would you like to run a BoF session in the evening? A place for a group to hang, hack and discuss?
We cannot emphasize enough that the more advance notice you give us, the more likely it is we will find a space for you.
Also there are many geek-friendly sites in Portland with more than adequate wifi, so if you would like to take an expedition to an outside venue just ask us about the best way to manage it.
